In a bizarre collaboration that breaks traditional predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Uncovered

According to the formal release, "A mysterious encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where rumors of banned ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden group.

The adventure centers on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Metamorphoses

The trailer highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the prisoner, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Prizes and Bonus Material

Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an unique katana in addition to multiple objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Exclusive arms
• Survey Corps vehicle

Newest Free Story Content

This patch also introduces the game's latest free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature abilities: Naoe introduces a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Japanese Animation Partnerships

This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime properties. The series formerly featured a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
