Unidentified Pink Ooze on Remote Tasmanian Beach Raises Concerns of Possible Algal Bloom
Agencies in Tasmania are attempting to pinpoint a magenta ooze that has appeared on a secluded beach, with a number of researchers worried it could be an algae outbreak.
Widespread Occurrence On Coastline
The rosy-colored ooze materialized across a portion of a coastal area about 60km south of Hobart. A like substance has also been noted on parts of Little Roaring Beach and a separate bay.
Specimens Gathered for Analysis

A campaigner, who collected samples of the rosy slime in Tasmania, stated it looked like the possible outbreak had "increased notably" and proposed the aquaculture sector was the primary suspect, citing comparable events elsewhere.
"So the state needs to deliver a clear message here, the authorities and the EPA need to react to this. We need to examine the examples we've collected and we need to put word out the community here," she stated.
She said she had anxieties for people's well-being after noticing a prickling feeling along her limbs and skin while being exposed with affected seawater.
